Does the band take requests?

Yes. In most cases, and in addition to highlighting your favorites from our curated repertoires, the St. Royals bands can learn a couple special requests provided in advance. For weddings these are typically a first dance or parent dance moment.

Is the band repertoire family-friendly?

Of course! We are used to playing at events with a mixed demographic - including families. We will play clean versions of songs unless you specifically request us to include non-clean versions as well.

When should I start looking to book my entertainment?

As early as possible. Contact us once you have your event date and/or venue secured! However, even if planning is coming together for you at the last minute, it’s still worth it to reach out! We are highly organized and we have a large and diverse talent roster so we are ready and capable to provide a great live music experience on very short notice as well!

Do I need a stage?

Not necessarily. We do recommend having a stage for numerous aesthetic reasons such as improved sightlines, cleaner setup (no distracting loose cables), and elevating the luxury feel and show experience. However, a stage is not a must-have. Some of the reasons to consider not having a stage include: minimizing footprint, creating a more intimate vibe, inadequate access for delivery and setup of stage decks, or allocating more budget to a bigger band!

What is the deposit structure? How do I lock in my date and services?

We require a retainer of 1/3 of the total balance along with a signed contract to lock in your date and services. Full payment is due prior to delivery of services.

Can I add additional service? Jazz Ensembles? DJ’s? Strings?

Most definitely! We can work with you to create a single music moment all the way up to a seamless music experience from the first guest’s arrival to the end of the night. From our massive and diverse talent roster we can design and provide a music experience for any part of your event including: cover bands, jazz ensembles, DJs, string quartets, acoustic groups, latin groups, harpists, singers, specialty groups, custom playlists and more.

What kind of music does the DJ Play?

Our DJs will use their experience to ensure that the music is appropriate for each moment of your event, taking into consideration the guest demographic, crowd reactions, as well as desired ambience & mood. You can be as hands on as you like when it comes to the DJ’s song lists! You are welcome and encouraged to send us your preferences for the DJ’s song lists in either broad strokes (genres, styles, general likes and dislikes), or you can send a tight list of songs, must-plays and do-not-plays.

Do the musicians require vendor meals?

It is customary to provide a meal for the musicians, DJs and AV technicians who are on site for more than 5 hours - or who are on standby during a meal service. Not all artist personnel will require a meal and this will be addressed with your account manager well in advance. Dietary requirements will also be provided to the planner or catering team as needed.

Will St. Royal work with my venue or planner?

Yes. St. Royal has developed professional relationships with hundreds of venues and planners from our years of experience. We also have preferred vendor status at numerous venues and a reputation for professionalism and reliability from the planners we have worked with.

Who are the musicians and DJs in the St. Royal Collective?

St. Royal boasts one of the largest and most professional collectives of local music artists. We have developed and nurtured a reputation as a sought-after gig among professional, working musicians and DJs. The majority of our music artists have music performance diplomas and/or many years of experience performing on stages in the event, hospitality or resort industries. How do I audition the entertainment before booking?

If you haven’t encountered St. Royal at an event before, there are two great ways to audition the entertainment and talent roster before booking with us. First, we host regular showcase events in and around downtown where you can see some of our more popular groups perform live. Second, we encourage you to explore our ever-growing catalogue on our YouTube page, which is regularly updated with new videos and performances.It’s important to keep in mind that a bespoke or one-off music experience we design for you may not yet be available for audition. In these cases perhaps our reputation for excellence, showmanship and professionalism will give you the confidence to lock in your entertainment.

Can I see the band perform at another wedding or event?

No. We do not invite our prospective clients to crash our clients’ events. Our focus is always first and foremost on delivering the live music experiences our clients expect. We make a promise to our clients and we do not compromise on that by allowing your live bands or DJs to become distracted trying to ‘win’ new clients at your event. This also means that we will not be inviting random, uninvited strangers to your event to audition our music services.

Are there any travel fees for events outside Toronto?

Yes. Travel fees are required for most events outside of the city of Toronto. In the interest of safety, accommodations may also be required for events that are particularly far away. This will be addressed by your account manager prior to the contract stage.

How does the booking process work?

Typically we start with a consultation to talk through your vision for your event. Here we will guide you through a draft itinerary making recommendations for your music options and audiovisual, as well as flagging any potential concerns or considerations. After reviewing the initial proposal we recommend a fine-tune call where we can cherry pick the elements you like best to create that ultimate music experience ready for contract - appropriately sized, customized music styles, and in your desired budget range. This process can take anywhere from a single phone call to a few weeks of consideration. Let’s get started!

What will the band and musicians be wearing?

For most occasions the musicians and DJs will be dressed in black suits, crisp white shirts and black ties. This is customizable and we can adapt our wardrobe to match the formality or theme of your event.

If I hire ceremony musicians, will they play my special songs?

Yes! A wedding ceremony is an incredibly special moment and the soundtrack must reflect that. We will guide you through customizing your ceremony music during the coordination process. Whatever your music group - strings, acoustic, DJ, or custom, we look forward to learning and arranging your song selections to create a unique and beautiful music experience just for you.

Does St. Royal include AV for the Band or DJ?

Yes, if needed. We are a one-stop shop for music services and audiovisual support. We provide full audiovisual services for all of our music elements and the professional expertise to design, deliver and operate everything. We can take care of any AV support you may require - any audio need, power needs and generators, wireless microphones, wireless speakers, multi-tiered stages, chuppah stage, as well as all manner of lighting: decor and ambient lighting, stage, as well as show and dance floor lighting.

What if my venue is able to supply AV?

If your venue has an exclusive or preferred AV partner we will work with them in advance to ensure their team has everything we’ll need. In these cases we often recommend that we provide our own live mix engineer who is familiar with our groups and our sound. This is fairly common and we’ve worked with most major venues and AV companies. It’s important to note that while some venues have in-house microphones and speakers, their systems are not always best suited for a live music or DJ performance. In these cases we will work with you and your venue to develop a hybrid solution - using as much of the in-house equipment as possible and providing whatever necessary equipment is needed beyond that.

Can I choose my lead vocalists?

Yes based on availability, of course. If your top choices are unavailable we will talent-match and suggest the best-fit based on your indicated styles and preferences from the deep and diverse St. Royal Artist Collective.
